Minutes General Meeting June 9, 2016

Meeting opened with the reading of the SCA Values, Mission & Vision by Dave Michal

- Current balance: $2544.16; Stinzine’s balance: $1441.07
- As Bruce is vacating his position this summer, we need a replacement until the AGM
- Dave Michal volunteers to be Interim Treasurer, and is acclaimed

- We’re working with Rebecca Costi of Corktown NA for the new name

- It is now open, but we hope to have a naming ceremony once the name is agreed upon

- Voting opens June 20, and lasts until July 1

- LRT Update
- Encouragement from the members to make a committment to shop locally during construction
- A letter of support to Downtown / International Village businesses will be drafted, and sent to them

- Arts Money Update (Dave Michal)
- We had previously received a $1000 grant from Benjamin Moore to do the mural; This was later paid for in full by the city, and the money remains in our account
- At a previous meeting, we agreed to earmark that money for the arts, in general, rather than a specific mural
- Dave suggests getting input from the community at large during the BBQ on Sunday
- Examples of usage included Bishop’s Park Fence, re-doing the Carter Park shed, a Sobi Station “sidewalk mural”
- Dispensary (Bruce Matthews)
- Bruce wanted the community to be aware that a marijuana dispensary has opened at the corner of Main & Emeral (Natural Green Compassion)
- Closing Remarks
- The July meeting will be cancelled, in favour of Songs From The Bishop
- The August meeting will be a BBQ
- The September meeting will be held at Employment Hamilton (67 Victoria Ave S), as Central Memorial will be closed for renovations
