- Welcome and Introductions
- Lee provided and welcome and began introductions, followed by a review of the values, vision and mission
- Members were encouraged to enjoy cookies that were provided by participants of the SCA cookie exchange. Also, Lyna brought a SCA Year at a Glance cake
- Dawn initiated a food drive for this meeting and collection boxes were made available to members who brought donations
- Agenda review and additions, Minutes review and accept
- An update from Julia Michal was added to the agenda
- The November minutes were not available for review. They will be reviewed and approved at the January 2016 SCA meeting
- ACTION: November meeting minutes to be reviewed at the January 2016 meeting
- SCA Executive Updates
- Bruce presented a monthly financial update report
- A copy of the report was handed out and reviewed by meeting attendants
- A motion to approve the report was moved by Joanna and seconded by Cathy
- Bruce also updated that he had obtained a commitment from three local businesses who will be contributing to the StinZine.
- He also updated that some of the SCA assets were still in need of reconciling. The items listed as being assets maintained by the treasurer were actually moved to the Events Library but these items still have not been confirmed that they are stored at this location. The items in question are a tent, bunny suit, snow cone and candy floss machine
- ACTION: Lyna to look into whether these items have been stored at the Events Library. As well she will look into creating an agreement with the events library so the SCA may have “first dibs” on these items since they are providing these as a donation.
- Update from Lyna Saad
- Lyna shared that the Hamilton Community Land Trust will be holding a workshop at Central Memorial on January 6th. Members are welcome to attend in order to learn about land trusts and to start to develop their own ideas about community owned land
- Information will be posted on Facebook
- Lyna provided a few words recognizing Sarah M for her work and contributions to the SCA
- Sarah updated that she would not be continuing her placement with the SCA. She thanked everyone for the opportunity and we all wished Sarah well!
- Lyna will continue with the work that Sarah started within the Residential Care Facilities
- Guest – Julia Michal, GALA/Safety Committee
- Julie updated that she has initiated a cross community committee that is taking a holistic view of community safety. She was seeking support and endorsement from the SCA for her committee
- Currently there are a range of people at the committee, including community developers, residents, McMaster researchers
- She is seeking a resident of Stinson to be a Hub champion and conduit between the SCA and the committee
- ACTION: Julie to send more detailed information for the SCA to review and follow up with a response about endorsement
- Annual Events Calendar
- In November 2015, A group discussion was held to create a wish list of events to be held by the SCA in 2016. A list of events was created, including Stinson 101 which is an open house concept for potential SCA members, an arts event in the spring to celebrate the mural
- Bruce presented a more cohesive version of the list which had events placed within a calendar. A request for chair persons and volunteers was made to meeting attendants to initiative working on these events. A suggestion was made to contact local students to be volunteers
- The calendar list and volunteers are available as an addendum to these meeting minutes
- Priority Setting
- Meeting attendants were asked to move into small groups and to discuss key priorities for the SCA to work on over the next year or two. Groups were asked to record their discussion and be prepared to report back their ideas to the larger group
- A range of ideas were presented, including safer streets, outreach and youth engagement
- Meeting attendants were updated that further details about priorities would be discussed at the next SCA meeting, including seeking volunteers to champion the priorities and determine next steps or tasks to do in order to accomplish the priorities

- The next SCA meeting will be on Thursday January 14th, 2016 7 PM at Central Memorial
