- Welcome, Review of Values, Mission and Vision, Introductions
- Matt opened the meeting with a welcome and review of values, mission and vision
- Agenda and Minutes Review/Additions
- No changes to the agenda
- Minutes were reviewed and approved. Motion to approve minutes was moved by Dave and seconded by Lee
- Treasurer’s Report
- SCA account balance at $2163.59, StinZine account balance at $805.89
- Release of Songs from the Bishop Fundraiser. Goal is $1000. Up for 2 months. Will use anything raised this year and save leftover for next year’s event. Already have $250 in the account!
- As always the books are open if anyone would like to review, just ask Dave.
- Neighbourhood Action Strategy Update (Jocelyn Strutt, City of Hamilton)
- Review of Neighbourhood Action Plan history. Stinson is one of eleven “Priority Neighbourhoods”.
- How to keep Action Plans relevant. Would like to update plans. Have gathered feedback so far through postcard and poster drop offs.
- Would like to take information that has been newly collected from resident feedback and use it in an updated plan. Translate the ideas into work!
- Review that plan more frequently, including Measure where we are, account for new ideas, include new people into the plan
- Jocelyn will send out a PDF copy of the old Stinson Neighbourhood Action Plan (SNAP) for people who haven’t seen it
- The plan in its current format, as a book, needs to be shortened to be more accessible and reader friendly
- Would we have this discussion about the plan update as a large group or small working group? Yes, large group preferred
- How do we take the information that we got from posters and postcards? Will gather into themes for further feedback and exploration and work!
- Asset Map needs a glossary or something that explains what’s on the map and user friendly
- Could do a highlight of action items at each SCA meeting? Yes, that’s a good idea
- We need a City Action plan for our neighbourhoods, how is the City accountable to our neighbourhoods. Is this an opportunity to act on these items?
- How do we address systemic issues? Will have to co-ordinate between “bottom up and top down” raise awareness these are issues and important things, communicate this is a need and a desire for the community
- ACTION: More updates to come from Jocelyn and Sunil
- Small Project Grant – Review Team request
- We have a submission for small grant
- Submitted for a mural for the Slow Down Snail – Who would like to review? Lee, Matt, Al. Karl will join if available
- Reminder that there is $1500 for small projects led by residents. If you interested please contact Sunil
- ACTION: Sunil to contact interested grants team participants to arrange a meeting
- Event Calendar Discussion and Planning
- The following event ideas/plans were expressed:
- Stinson Creative Lab is committing to do a repaint the shed in Carter Park,
- Dave will volunteer to do a Yard Sale, will do a poll on Facebook for dates and look for volunteers in the spring
- Karl to host Spring event food and get together, BBQ “meet your neighbours”
- Possible to bring back Easter Egg hunt? Matt to help organize
- Light Up the Under structure of the Claremont Access (Ben)
- Summer BBQ?
- Songs from the Bishop
- 100 in 1 Day – Resident led but events in Stinson
- Clean Up dates, Beautiful Alleyway clean ups (Saturday April 22nd)
- A call out was made for an Event Subcommittee – Lee offered to join.
- ACTION: Please let Sunil know if you would like to support events or participate with the event subcommittee

- Endorsement Policy Update
- What is an Endorsement – act of giving support or approval of something
- Dave reviewed a flow chart draft of the Endorsement Policy Process
- Will have finalized document for April
- Will pilot the policy soon!
- ACTION: Endorsement Policy team to meet again soon to finalize
- Canada 150 Grant
- Looking to submit a grant. Please share ideas.
- Could do the Under Mount Light event? Open to other events
- A call out was made to have a working group on the Canada 150 Grant – Al, Lee, Tina, Karl offered to join
- ACTION: Group to offer updates after they meet to discuss ideas

- Bike Lane Engagement – PlanLocal Project
- Stinson is expecting resurfacing of Stinson St.
- Letter was sent out to residents
- Residents are encouraged to take care of any work needed underground with pipes
- We have Cannon St bike lanes as model for bike lanes
- We need to have Councillor Farr to a meeting to further discuss and know our options. Will be a preliminary discussion
- Hold to a high standard and accountable
- Bring to Ward 2 Community Council for further exploration

- Stinzine – At the printer for February Edition.
- Would like to run a workshop for residents to discuss Vision, Mission, Values of StinZine to make an even better publication. Workshop will be open to all.
- International Village – Meeting with Susie Braithwaite. Pitching advertising to BIA members.
- Event this weekend by Try! Hamilton sounds like fun and shenanigans. Also Family Fun Day with International Children’s Centre. Events are posted on International Village FB page.
- Ice Rink – No update. Weather isn’t co-operating!
- PlanLocal – No update
- Pollinator / Community Gardens
- Karl is looking for a garden subcommittee members for either a pollinator or community garden
- Al, Nicole and Lee are interested in participating
- Will need to look at grants
- ACTION: Community garden subcommittee to connect and share ideas once they meet
- Community Information Sharing
- City Council voted to keep Ward Boundaries as is and not follow with the consultation report
- Petition going around to make Ward Boundaries more representative
- Will be going OMB
- Beasley Winter Fair is Saturday
