Minutes General Meeting
May 12, 2016
Meeting opened with the reading of the SCA Values, Mission & Vision by Dave Michal
- Erika welcomed everyone and everyone introduced themselves.
- Reviewed the Agenda. Minutes were approved
- Treasurer’s Report (Bruce Matthews):
- Current balance (as of April 30): $2566.86; Stinzine’s balance: $1740.20
- Bruce noted that there was $1000 earmarked for the mural, but that the mural ended up being paid for by a City grant.
- Bruce recommends that the money be reclassified from “mural funding” to “arts funding”
- Dawn McIlmoyle recommends we discuss ideas at the June meeting
- Guest Speaker: Susan Noakes (McQuesten Urban Farm)
- An initiative to increase food security in the McQuesten area, as well as Hamilton at large
- Hiring people on OW, disability, etc for jobs
- They are putting in a nature walk; Planting hundreds of trees; Looking to open a market stand on Saturdays (as last year) as well as one on Friday with food trucks (new for 2016).
- They want to do a market/event in Stinson; Discussions ongoing

- Mural Update
- Event will take place Sunday, June 12
- Bryce Huffman (the artist) as well as Cllr Farr and others will be in attendance
- There will be a basketball tournament, kids events, and a bbq!
- Volunteers are needed, and urged to email [email protected]

- Brush clearing completed! Gained us about 30 ft
- June 2nd is the tentative opening date (depending on the fence installation, so may be later) (Note, now open as of June 6)
- Granite choker sand instead of grass
- There’s money put aside for water fountains, but probably won’t be there for opening

- Superhero theme
- Food For Kids program will be out so parents can sign up

- Costing about $500 between publishing, paying for the acts, etc
- Lee is looking into grants
- Possibility of building a small, covered stage in Bishop Park, about 10×10 feet, giver or take
