General Meeting Minutes

SCA Mission: To enable all residents to fully participate in the community. To actively engage community partners in building relationships in order to enrich the community and the neighbourhood. To encourage, build, and preserve a safe, clean, and attractive neighbourhood that we are all proud to call home

1. Welcome and Introductions, Values, Vision, Mission
   • Ralph opening, welcome and introductions, values and Mission Statement
2. Agenda review and additions; Minutes review and accept
   • New Item – SCA requires storage for equipment, including cotton candy machine and snowcone machine. Katherine and Bruce to discuss storage options, including possible grant for storage container.
   • New Item – Carter Park Mural. Discussion about possible temporary location for mural until overpass work is complete.
   • Minutes Lee motion to pass minutes with minor correction to some name spellings, Bruce seconded. Motion passed.
3. SCA Executive Committee Updates – Treasurer’s Report
   • No activity in the SCA Account.
   • KD has not yet cashed Egg hunt cheque from Effort Trust.
     • Further SCA to send thank-you letter for donation.
4. SCA Executive Committee Updates – Raffle Tickets
   • Draw for Ballet tickets – Winner is Katherine
5. SCA Executive Committee Updates – Small Grant Update
   • Small Grants Workshop & Information Session upcoming for March 23.
     • Katherine, Erika, and Linda interested in going.
   • Stinson has $5k for small grants
6. SCA Executive Committee Updates – Community Land Trust Endorsement

• Review of Endorsement Process
  • Last November SCA was given a presentation of the Community Land Trust
  • Voting to support was deferred
  • 15 for, 0 against, 3 abstained

7. SCA Executive Committee Updates – Announcements

• The Escarpment Project Annual Clean-up, for 2015 clean-up takes place on Sunday April 26 at 11 AM

  • they supply gloves and garbage bags

  • ends with barbecue at albian falls

  • if you have one, bring a wagon

• PIC for Alanson Street road work and Victoria Overpass work has been arranged for March 23 at 6:30pm at the Central Memorial Rec Centre with Gary Moore the Project Manger. Flyers to follow.

  • Erika will help with distribution

• LYNA Saad upcoming opportunities

  • 101 Day – Global Initiative to introduce 100 projects. June 6, first time in Hamilton this year.

• Jane’s Walk – If anybody is interested in hosting a Jane’s walk in Stinson, Lyna will provide support

• Organization called Junkworks, Lyna will follow up.

• Building Momentum fundraiser

• Ralph to send out email with information

8. SCA Committee Updates – Communication Committee

• Kick off/brainstorming get together at the Rebel Rock next Thursday evening. March 19, 8pm

9. SCA Committee Updates – StinZine
   • StinZine is looking for more members.

• No further publications until new Editor in Chief is found. Position open to any interested members.

10. SCA Committee Updates – Events – Easter Egg Hunt

• April 4^th from 1-3

• we hit the target of $500 through indegogo

  • total raised, this is just for kid’s event $855

  • we need to put together a thank you to contributors.

• need volunteers for committee,

  • need face painters, setup, cleanup, etc.

11. SCA Committee Updates – Events – Ice Rink

• Rink is being closed down, best estimation was 25 skating days
• Mike will be putting grant for skate boards

12. SCA Committee Updates – Adopt-a-Park
    • Mike no longer Bishop park adoptee, it is now Natasha and Dawn
    • Mike and Lee are adopting Carter, will follow up with clean up details
13. Community Engagement
    • Stinson Action Plan
    • What do we need to do to move forward with our vision?
      • Questionnaire distributed. See separate summary.
