The Neighbourhood Leadership Institute (NLI) enhances the skills of neighbourhood and community leaders. Participants receive leadership training while growing a locally developed project idea. They develop their skills in project management, conflict resolution, communication, grant writing, public speaking, working with others, self-advocacy and team leadership.
The NLI works with several Hamilton organizations, agencies and educational institutions, including Mohawk College, which has certified the NLI. The program’s graduates receive a college-level credit for their work.
If you have a great idea for your community but you’re not sure on how to move it forward – the NLI can help. A number of Stinson residents participated in last year’s pilot program (including myself). During the process we were able to network and build relationships with other neighbourhoods, develop our skills and project ideas in a very supportive environment, and lastly but certainly not least we had a great deal of FUN!
The application deadline is January 16th 2015. Attached here is the application form.
For more information or if you require assistance with the application itself you can contact nli@
